The Council ag~eed to the date for th~conference. In line with traffic problems, Dr. Craddock questioned the wisdom of al lowing buildings in the business district to be built directly on the propef'ty line. She cited corners where bui Idings cut off vision of drivers and create a driVing hazard. Dr. Craddock said she would like to go on record as recommending a change in the bu i I ding code to prevent such construct ion in the future. I Counci Iman Korff reported that th~ site fbr the riew reservoir had been secured. with deeds being prepared. He said Mr. Wi Ilburn had accepted :the City's final offer of $11,000. Mr. Korff and Mr. Flores, the City's land Committee, made a re6o~mendation that the Fredericksburg Street property be sold. The City Manager was authorized by the Counc i I to.. advert i se the property for sa Ie. Mr. Wolff suggested $10,000 as a minimum price that the Cfty should accept for the property. Mr. Korff reported th~t the Committee met with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sharp in an effort to negotiate for purchase of their property for the proposed sewage disposal plant. A Resolution authorizing the exchange of property with the San Marcos Sapt i st Academy was read aloud by the Mayor. The Counc i I had prev i ous I y approved the exchange. Dr, Crad- dock moved approval of the Resolution. Mr. Damon seconded the motion and on rol I cal I, the fol lowing vote was recorded: AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, ~erur, Whittenberg NAY: None I The Mayor dec I ared the Reso lut i on Passed and Approved. The City Manager introduced an Ordinance, which was read aloud. Caption of the Ordinance, which is attached as a part of the Minutes, is as fol lows: AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SELECTION OF SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS,DESIGNAT/NG THEIR AUTHORITY, TENURE AND COMPENSATION, REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY Mr. Wolff explained that a simi lar ordinance had been passed on August 22, 1966, but it was now felt by officials of the City and Gary Job Corps Training Center that a more specific arrangement was needed. Mr. Damon moved adoption of the Ordinance as an emergency measure. Mr. Korff seconded the ~otion and onroll cal I, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Serur, Whittenberg NAY: None I , The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted.
