The Council <br />ag~eed to the date for th~conference. <br /> <br />In line with traffic problems, Dr. Craddock questioned <br />the wisdom of al lowing buildings in the business district <br />to be built directly on the propef'ty line. She cited <br />corners where bui Idings cut off vision of drivers and <br />create a driVing hazard. Dr. Craddock said she would <br />like to go on record as recommending a change in the <br />bu i I ding code to prevent such construct ion in the future. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Counci Iman Korff reported that th~ site fbr the riew <br />reservoir had been secured. with deeds being prepared. <br />He said Mr. Wi Ilburn had accepted :the City's final offer <br />of $11,000. Mr. Korff and Mr. Flores, the City's land <br />Committee, made a re6o~mendation that the Fredericksburg <br />Street property be sold. The City Manager was authorized <br />by the Counc i I to.. advert i se the property for sa Ie. Mr. <br />Wolff suggested $10,000 as a minimum price that the Cfty <br />should accept for the property. Mr. Korff reported th~t <br />the Committee met with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sharp in an <br />effort to negotiate for purchase of their property for <br />the proposed sewage disposal plant. <br />A Resolution authorizing the exchange of property with <br />the San Marcos Sapt i st Academy was read aloud by the Mayor. <br />The Counc i I had prev i ous I y approved the exchange. Dr, Crad- <br />dock moved approval of the Resolution. Mr. Damon seconded <br />the motion and on rol I cal I, the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, ~erur, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor dec I ared the Reso lut i on Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />The City Manager introduced an Ordinance, which was read <br />aloud. Caption of the Ordinance, which is attached as a <br />part of the Minutes, is as fol lows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SELECTION OF SPECIAL <br />POLICE OFFICERS,DESIGNAT/NG THEIR AUTHORITY, TENURE <br />AND COMPENSATION, REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />Mr. Wolff explained that a simi lar ordinance had been passed <br />on August 22, 1966, but it was now felt by officials of the <br />City and Gary Job Corps Training Center that a more specific <br />arrangement was needed. Mr. Damon moved adoption of the <br />Ordinance as an emergency measure. Mr. Korff seconded the <br />~otion and onroll cal I, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Serur, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />, <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. <br />
