<br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 5:30p.m.

<br />The Mayor read aloud a Resolution, captioned as follows:
<br />
<br />A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND UNDERTAKING OF
<br />SURVEYS AND PLANS FOR AN URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT
<br />AND FILING AN APPLICATION
<br />
<br />It was explained that the Council had autho~ized the submission
<br />of an application at the March 27, 1967 meeting, but had not
<br />passed a formal resolution to that effect. Dr. Pool moved approval
<br />of the Resolution. Mr. Korff seconded the motion and on roll call,
<br />the following vote was recorded:
<br />
<br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff. Pool. Serur, Whittenberg
<br />NAY: None
<br />
<br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved.

<br />The Mayor asked for a progress report on purchase of the Sharp
<br />property. Herman Korff, Chairman of the Land Committee, said
<br />he,had talked with the City Attorney, who reported he had not had
<br />an answer from Mr. Sharp's attorney following the City's counter
<br />proposal, The Mayor said he felt the City could not wait indefinitely,
<br />but would have"to make a decision soon. Mr. Korff mov~d fhat the
<br />City Attorney be directed to proceed with condemnation proceedings.
<br />Mr. Flores seconded the motion. In the discussion which followed,
<br />Councilman Whittenberg said he did not feel the Council should give
<br />an affirmative vote to the motion until they knew what it would cost
<br />to go to Court. He said he would prefer to give Mr. and Mrs. Sharp
<br />their asking price of $30,000 than to got to Court. Mr. Flores said
<br />the Sharps had been offered $12,000 for Site #1, as a counter proposal,
<br />which was $1200 an acre, a big price for farm land. The question
