I I I / l Office of BRYAN BALDRIDGE County Auditor San Marcos) Texas July 17, 1967 Mrs. Dorothy Worrell City Manager San Marcos, Texas Dear Mrs, Worrell: During the course of my telephone conversation with you yesterday, the following items were discussed: 1. It was agreed between the City of San Marcos, San Marcos ,Independent School District and Hays County that some method for maintaining the Central Tax Library on a current basis would have to be found. The two methods proposed at the time of signing the apprsisal contract with the Eric Ehrenborg Co. of Dallas were that either the Ehrenborg firm would perform the necessary maintenance on an annual contract basis or a full time tax appraiser would be hired. After some investigation, it seemed to be the general Consensus of opinion that s full time tax appraiser would be the more preferable methOd to use. 2. When the school tax office was closed On April 2, the school tax assessor, Mr. Curtis Jenkins, was hired as the tax appraiser for the Central Tax Library at the contract rate 'of $11,500.00 annually. The County and the school, realizing the necessity of initiating the annual appraisal program, agreed to share the cost of Mr. Jenkins' fee, one-half each, until an equitable method of prorating the cost between each participant was devised. It was generally agreed that a ratio of market value appraisals or a ratio of lines on the tax rolls would be used to determine the ratio of participation in the cost by each taxing agency. 3. The Hays Consolidated School District and the City of Kyle have since joined the re-evaluation program and will participate in the costs of the annual maintenance of the Central Tax Library. '1<'1
