<br />regular meeting, july 10, 1967 <br /> <br />page four <br /> <br />The Mayor opened discussion on the City Sales Tax, and <br />recommended strongly that the Counci I consider call ing <br />an election on the issue, at an early date. He reported <br />on a meeting he had attended in Austin. He said it was <br />estimated by the Texas Municipal League that San Marcos <br />would receive an annual revenue of $105,000, should <br />voters approve a sales tax. Mr. Whittenberg said the <br />sales tax must be used for current expenses, and added: <br />"We have employees that definitely need salary increases. <br />This is one way we can raise salaries.
