He said the names of <br />Mrs. Jim Griffith, Mrs. Ruby Slaughter, the Rev. Richmond <br />McKinney and Laurens Fish, Jr., had been submitted. Mr. <br />Korff moved that the Mayor's suggestion be accepted, and <br />the four appointed. Mr. Damon seconded the motion, with <br />the addition of H.Y. Price, Jr. to the list. Voting was <br />by ballot. The Mayorfannounced that Mrs. Griffith, Mrs. <br />Slaughter, the Rev. Richmond McKinney and H.Y.Pr~ce, Jr. <br />were those chosen to serve on the Library Board. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Cates, Vice President for Fiscal Affairs for <br />Southwest Texas State College, appeared before the Council <br />to discuss the City's traffic I ight plan. He proposed that <br />the College wpuld buy a signal light for North LBJ Drive <br />on campus, if the City would pay the installation cost. <br />The Col lege would be responsible for enforcement of <br />traffic laws. Mr. Damon moved that the City be respon- <br />sible for installation of the signal light to be purch- <br />aied by the Col lege. Mr. Korff seconded the mo~ion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Cates brought a second matter before the Counci I. He <br />requested that the City abandon certain streets which inter- <br />sect the Campus, the College to be responsible for mainten- <br />ance. Mr. Korff moved that attorneys for the City and the <br />Col lege, and Urban Renewal prepare an Ordinance>conveying <br />the streets to the Col rege,as requested. MR. Damon second- <br />ed the motion and on rol I cal I the fol lowing vote was recorded~ <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, <br />Whittenberg <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Cates thanked the Counci I, on behalf of the Col lege, <br />for their cooperation and courtesy, which had been the <br />case for the seventeen years he had been at the Col lege. <br />He added: nl don't think a City and a Col lege could have <br />a better relationship than we have enJoyed.n <br /> <br />The Mayor read an estimate on some additional drafting <br />work for the installation of the signal lights, from the <br />City's engineers, Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam. It was <br />recommended that the City's draftsman be entrusted with <br />the work. Dr. Craddock moved that the Mayor authorize <br />Ronald Wicker to do the necessary drafting for the Job. <br />Mr. Damon seconded the motion, which passed unanimousl~. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from B.W. Klotz, of Lock- <br />wood, Andrews & Newnam, in reference to a $700 fee for I <br />preparat i on of eng i neer i ng data fOJr' Ranson E< Co., f j sca I <br />agents for the City, see copy attached.
