<br />ii' <br />I' <br /> <br />regular meeting, september 11, 1967 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Dr. Pool introduced a Resolution and moved its approval. <br />The Resolution, which provided for exchange of properties <br />with the United States Government, was read in full and is <br />attached as a part of the Minutes. Mr. Damon seconded the <br />motion and on roll call, the followi~g vote was recorded: <br /> <br /> AY E: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, <br /> Whittenberg <br /> NAY: None I <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Pa ssed and Approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from J.E. Younger, jr., <br />Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Commission, see attached. <br />Mr. Ser.ur asked the City Manager for a recommendation on <br />allowing mobil homes to park in "R-l" (Residential) zones, <br />provided there were nb objection from adjacent property <br />owners. Mr~ Bean said he would find out what policy pre- <br />vails in other cities, and make a recommendation at the <br />next meeting. <br /> <br />The ~ayor read aloud a letter from Urban Renewal Director <br />J.T. Brown, reminding the Council that appointments to the <br />Urban Renewal Board were due, see .attach.ed. Dr. Craddock <br />moved reappointment to the Board .of Mrs. Laura L. Ramsay, <br />Dr. Robert W. Walts and Eliazar Salinas. Mr. Flores second- <br />ed the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened discussion on the Sales Tax Study Committ~eg <br />Bob Barton, Publisher of fhe Hays County Citizen, asked for <br />clarification of the duti;;- and purpose of suc.ha commi ttee. <br /> <br />The question was thoroughly discussed. Dr. Craddock moved I <br />that members of the committee be instructed to review the <br />needs of the City a~d advise on the desirability or ~n- <br />desirability of holdin~ a Sales Tax Election in San Marcos. <br />Mr. Flores seconded. the moti on. Mr . Whittenberg said there <br />had been a great deal of discussion on this matter, and, in <br />his opinion, the City Council should furnish the leadership <br />in providing the needs of the City i that if the Committee <br />made an adverse report, the Sales Tax would be killed. <br />"We. shouldn't box. oursel ves in" i Mr. Whittenberg concluded, <br />" we should be leaders, and not followers." Pool, Serur i <br />Whittenberg <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for consideration a Resolution establish- <br />ing a policy for i~stallationof ~ater and sewer lines in sub- <br />divisions. The Resolution was read in full. Dr. Craddock <br />said she preferred to give it further study. The Mayor agreed, I <br />Dr. Pool moved approval of the Resolution. Mr. korffseconded <br />the motion. Mr. Whittenberg moved that the motion. be tabled <br />and the Resolution. given fcurther study. Dr. Craddoc.ksecon<;led <br />the motion.
