A tabulation of <br />the bids is made a part of the Minutes. <br /> <br />Dr. Pool suggested that the next time bids are called for. <br />it might be well to include aviation fuel. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for cons j derat i on, the proposed annex- I <br />ation of 440 acres, as recommended by the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission. Counci Iman Damon commended the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission for its fine work on the annexation project, and <br />moved to lay the question on the table. Counci Iman Korff <br />seconded the motion, and on 1'01 I call, the fol lowing vote <br />was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Damon, Flores. Korff, Pool, Serur <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager requested authorization to advertise for <br />bids on two cars (for the Police Department), four pickup <br />trucks and a two-ton truck, as provided for in the current <br />budget. Mr. Korff moved that the C~ty Manager be author- <br />ized to advertise for bidson the vehicles\isted above. <br />Dr. Craddock seconded the motion. Counci Iman Korff en- <br />quiredwhether it would be advisable to install radi.o equip- <br />ment in City vehicles, for more effecicient operation. <br />Mr " Bean sa i d he wou I d have such a p I an to bring before the <br />Council shortly after the first .of the year. According to <br />the best estimates he had been able to get from the State <br />Communications Department, it would cost the City about <br />$9,000 to install a two-frequency radio system in City ve- <br />hicles. The following vote was ~ecord~d on the motion: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Poo I ,Seruf' <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor d~clared the motion carri.ed. <br /> <br />The City Manager asked authorization to employ two addition- <br />al school-crossing gu~rd~. Mr. Bean said he had asked the <br />School Board to assume half the cost. Dr. Pool moved that <br />two more school-crossing guards be employed. Dr. Craddock <br />seconded the motion. Mr. Flores commented that traffic was <br />bad on Guadalupe Street, and he felt more emphasis should <br />be placed on control of speed in the school zones. On roll <br />call the fo l.l.ow i ng vote on the mot i on was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur <br />None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Korff recommended that the publ ic be notified that the <br />Police Department would check for drivers licenses. He said <br />that a great number of young. people drivewithout..a license. <br />M~. Flores said the School has a policy that only those with <br />drivers licenses are allowed to park on school parking lots. <br />
