Tye, to Police Sargeants. Mr. Serur commended
the Police Department for the excel lent job they are doing,
and expressed the hope that the Department could soon be
brought up to authorized strength.

The City Manager said Mrs. Elwood Soechting had called on
him as a representative of the Red Cross. and would like
to appear befo~e the Counci I to discuss plans for a munici-
pal swimming pool. She said the organization was prepared to
assist the City on this project.

Mr. Bean requested authorization to pave the City parking lot.
He explained that it was necessary to pave the lot in order to
stripe it and provide sufficient spaces for the City and County
employees. Or. Craddock moved that the City Manager be author-
ized to pave the lot. Mr. Damon seconded the motion. Mr. Flores
said he was opposed to paving the parking lot when there were
many streets that lacked just one block of paving. Dr. Pool said
a survey of these streets should be made, and the paving done.
The following vote was recorded on the motion:

AYE:
NAY:

Craddock, Damon, Korff, Pool, Serur
Flores

The Mayor declared the motion carried.

Counci Iman Damon said he noticed that Joe Gafford had lighted
Lowman Airport. He asked Dr. Pool if the Municipal Airport
could not be lighted. Or. Pool said an attempt had been made
to install a lighting system, using Gary Job Corps labor. He
said it needed immediate attention, and expressed the hope that
it could be lighted in the near future.

The Counci I went into executive sessIon at 8:30 p.m.

;:/
. /! ~
p'r.;/'~
Ell is Serur

?3'
~ ce ~_~t

Dr. Emmie Craddock
Counci Iwoman

1
>> . j~//
.He~

Counci Iman

-

,~) . ~
7i?CLU0~ ..4'. /
!Luciano H. fro es
Counci Iman

r ) /1 '::r---
lYJ2~/u a.
