<br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

<br />The Rev. Tommy Ruth Bal I, Minister of the Assembly of God
<br />Church, gave the Invocation.
<br />
<br />The, Minutes of the meet,; ngsof January 8, January 23 and
<br />February I, 1968 we,re approved as presented, on mot ion of
<br />Counci Iman Damon, and second of Dr. Craddock,.
<br />
<br />Mrs. W.A. Wyatt, Chairman of the Hays County Historical
<br />Survey Committee, was spokesman for a delegation recognized
<br />by the 'Mayor. Mrs., Wyatt requested approval of the I ocat ion
<br />of a marker at the site of the first court house in Hays County,
<br />in the 300 block of the present Moon Drive, San Marcos. She
<br />explained that the attractive marker should serve as a tourist
<br />item. It lists the, early. settlers who cooperated,~n surveying
<br />and mapping the town site and drew up the first charter. She
<br />also asked approval of March I for dedication.of the marker,
<br />stat i ng that San Marcos was founded on March I, 1848. On mot i on
<br />of Mr; Damon and second of Dr. Craddock, the Counci I unanimously
<br />approved the placement of the marker ;n the 300 block of Moon Drive,
<br />and March I, 1968, at 4:00 p.m., as the date for dedication.

<br />Mrs. Wyatt had a second item of business to bring before the
<br />Counci I. She explained the proposed method of financing markers
<br />along the ~ell-publicized "Ranch Trai I". and asked the City to
<br />give $74 toward the cost. Mr. Korff moved that the Ci ty give
<br />$74 as' its shar~ of the cost of markers in Hays County. Mr. Flores
<br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

<br />Vi rg ; I Cowan came before the Counc il to request purchase of five
<br />acres of land which he stated he,had paid taxes on for many years.
