<br />~, <br /> <br />regular meeting, february 26, 1968 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock moved adoption of an ordinance annexing <br />two parcels of land on North LBJ Drive. Mr. Damon <br />seconded the motion and om rol I ,cal I, the fol lowing <br />vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, <br />Serur, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved <br />and Adopted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Tom Brasher, President of the League of Women <br />Voters of San Marcos, came before the Counci 1 to <br />state the League's position on Juveni Ie Delrhquency, <br />Her statement is atta~hed as a part of the Minutes. <br />Mrs. Brasher explained that the League had studied <br />the local situation for a year, and had made some <br />recommendations for i*s improvement. She commend- <br />ed the City for its efforts to improve housing, and <br />to provide more and better recreational faci Ii:ties, <br />and added police protection, <br /> <br />Mr. Travis Robhrtsi~representative of R.H, Meeks for <br />development of the Nelson River Property, ca~e before <br />the Counci I. Mr. Roberts requested that the City <br />issue a bui Iding permit for an apartment complex on <br />an I I-acre tract bordered by the Sah Marcos River, <br />Purgatory Creek and Comal Street. He showed an artist's <br />drawing of the plans. The property is in the area <br />designated for the General Neighborhood Renewal Plan. <br />Mr. Whittenberg reminded the Counci I that others had <br />been denied permits for commerciif development on land <br />designated primarily for parks. Jim Brown, Director <br />of Urban Renewa I, stated that unti la pub lie ,hear i ng <br />was held on the River Project, it would be up to the <br />Counci Ito decide on whether the permit should be given. <br />The matter was thoroughly discussed. Dr, Craddock <br />~oved that the proposal be sent to the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission and the Urban Renewal Board for study and <br />recommendations to the Counci I. Mr. Damon seconded the <br />motion and on ro f I call thefo II ow i rig vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, <br />Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried, <br /> <br />Dr. Pool introduced the matter of annexation of adjacent <br />areas, which had been tabled in December. A discussion <br />ensued. Dr. Craddock moved that the City Manager study <br />the matter and recommend to the Counci I areas which <br />could be served by the City, and that annexation proceed- <br />ings be started on such properties. Dr. Pool seconded <br />the motion and on roll cal I, the fol lowing vote was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, <br />Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br />
