I I I which included, but was not limited to, an amount of $200,000.00 for use in purchasing certain lands for park use, and; WHEREAS, on March 27, 1967, the City Council of the City of San Marcos approved an ,ordinance approving the General Neighborhood Renewal Plan for the Juan Veramendi Project Tex. R-90, as prepared by the Plan- ning Firm of Morman, Mok and Green, Inc. of Houston and San Antonio and presented by the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of San Marcos, and; WHEREAS, the Juan Veramendi General Neighborhood Renewal Plan, Project Tex. R-90 (GN), Exhibit 1:3, proposes that all land bound on the South by Cheatham Street, the East by theSan Marcos River, the North by Colorado Street, and the West by Moon Drive and the proposed C. M. Allan Parkway, be redeveloped as a public park reuse area, and; WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos filed a Survey and Planning Ap- plication for funds for Project Tex. R-115 with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on or about August 5, 1967, and; WHEREAS, the Survey and Planning Application ;or froject Tex. R-115 sets out an estimated grant requirement for acquisition of pro- ject lands, and; WHEREAS, on April 16, 1968, the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development approved a grant to the City of San Marcos for the implementation of a Comprehensive Master Plan Study. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TIlE CITY COUNC IL OF TIlE CITY OF SAN MARCOS: 1. That the City Council of the City of San Marcos restates its approval of the preliminary plan concept in the Juan Veramendi General Neighborhood Renewal Plan, and with particular accent upon the portion of said plan that sets out tbe river front park development, and; 2. That a financial study be undertaken to determine availability of funds for purchase of such park lands, and; 3. That by these statements it is the expressed intention of the -2-
