~
1- of San:A1a<<os

POST OFFICE BOX 726/ SAN MARCOS. TEXAS 78666/ AC 612 392-2417

November 21, 1968

Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of San Marcos
San Marcos, Texas

I

Members of the City Council:

Two items are presented for your information in reference to the Planning and
Zoning Commission's November 19, 1968 meeting.

The election of new officers for the coming year was held. Jesse Adams nom-
inated Dr. Billy J. Hinton for Chairman, and Mrs. Katherine Hardeman for Vice-
Chairman. This was seconded by Frank Contreras, Jr. The Commission voted unan-
imously on this nomination and Chairman J. E. Younger, Jr. declared Dr. Hinton
and Mrs. Hardeman the new officers for the coming year.

A Public Hearin9 was held on Homer (Bud) Hamilton's request for a change of zoning
on 10.947 acres out of the 1. J. Chambers #2 Survey, from "R" (non-conforming) to
"0" (multi-family). Many property owners within 200 feet of the proposed change
appeared to protest. Their objections were based upon property devaluation, high
noise level from apartment dwellings, and the over-crowding of people and cars in
that area. After due discussion, the Commission voted unanimously to deny the re-
quest from Homer Hamilton. This was mandatory, as more than 20% of the property
owners in that area objected to the change.

I

BJH/vw
