Claybourn, Charlotte Crisp, <br />Jerr~ Veidt, Dr. Billy Hinton <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Minutes of he December 9, 1968 meeting were approved as <br />presented, on motion of Councilman Zaveskyand secon.d of <br />Councilman Smith. <br /> <br />In business deferred from a previous meeting, the Mayor read <br />aloud a letter from Ralph S. Ellifrit, Chief of Planning Div- <br />ision of Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. The Council had <br />requested a recommendation from the City's EngineerscPlanners <br />on a request from Hamilton Bros. for a change of zoning on <br />10.947 acres of land recently annexed to the. City. A copy of <br />the letter is. attached and made a part of the Minutes. Mr. <br />Smith moved that the recommendation of the Planner be accepted, <br />and the request for a change of zoning from -R-l- to "D" be <br />denied on the 10.947 acres. Mr. Zavesky seconded the motion <br />and on roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Danne~ley, Flores, Smith, Serul', ,Zavesky <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Billy Hinton, Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Commission, <br />came before the Council .to clarify recommendations made by the <br />Commission on two petitions foriannexqtion. Using a wall map <br />for illustration, Dr. Hinton explained why the Commission had <br />recommended that a larger area in Westover be annexed, ,instead <br />of the two lots petitioned for annexation by A.D. Adcock. <br />I n the case of t.he tracts petitioned fClr.a nnexation by Sidney <br />Kyle and San Marcos Properties, Dr. Hinton pointed out that <br />they adjoined the City Limits and should be brought in as requested. <br />In the latter case Mr. Dannelley brought out that it would be <br />necessary to ask for dedication of property to the City to <br />widen the street to the required 50 feet. Mr. Herbert Karren, <br />of San Marcos Properties, stated his firm would dedicate the <br />necessary footage to bring Lamar Street to 50 feet in width. <br /> <br />L <br />
