<br />.,. ~ --~ <br /> <br />ORDINANCE <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE WHICH PROVIDES FOR <br />THE REGUlATION, LICENSING, IMPOUNDING, REDEMPTION, SELLING <br />AND DISPOSING OF DOGS, BY ADDITIONALLY PROVIDING FOR THE <br />IMPOUNDING, REDEMPTION, SELLING AND DISPOSING OF CATTLE, <br />HORSES, JACKS, JENNETS, SHEEP, GOATS AND OTHER LIKE: <br />ANIMALS, THRU THE: ADDITION OF ONE SENTENCE TO SE:CTION 6 <br />OF SAID ORDINANCE, AND THE SUBSTITUTION OF NEW SECTIONS <br />7, 8, 9 AND 10 IN SAID ORDINANCE; DEClARING AN EMERGENCY; <br />AND PROVIDING FOR LE:GAL PUBLICATION HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />That the following sentence be added to Section 6. of that <br />ordinance of the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, passed, <br />approved and adopted on the 26th day of June, 1962, the primary pur- <br />pose of which is to provide for the regulation, licensing, impounding, <br />redemption, selling and disposing of dogs within the city limits of <br />the City of San Marcos, Texas; It shall be the further duty of the <br />Pound Master and his assistants to pick up and impound all cattle, <br />horses, jacks, jennets, sheep, goats or like animals found running <br />at large, to take proper care for all such animals impounded, to <br />destroy all such animals that have not been redeemed or sold, and <br />to perform such other duties as may be directed by the City Manager <br />under the terms of this ordinance. <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />That tbe present Sections 7., 8., 9. and 10. of said ordinance <br />of June 26, 1962, be deleted and new sections, under the same <br />numbers, be substituted therefor, so that said sections sball hence- <br />forth read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 7. REPORTS. It shall be the duty of the Pound Master <br />to report in writing to tbe City Manager once each month the total <br />number of dogs, cattle, horses, jacks, jennets, sheep, goats or like <br />animals redeemed, sold or killed under the provisions of this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 8, POUND FEES. There shall be charged a pound fee of <br />ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) for each and every dog, cow, borse, jack, jennet, <br />sheep, goat or otber like animal impounded under the provisions of <br />this ordinance, and an additional fee of ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) per day <br />for each day or fraction thereof that any such animal shall remain <br />in said pound. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Section 9. REDEMPTION OF IMPOUNDED DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS. <br />The owner or keeper of any dog, cow, borse, jack, jennet, sheep, <br />goat or other like animal captured or impounded under the provisions <br />of this ordinance shall be permitted and allowed, to redeem, reclaim, <br />and receive possession of any such animal within seventy-two (72) <br />hours after impounding, upon payment to the City of San Marcos of <br />the pound fee, as provided in Section 8, of tbis ordinance, and in <br />addition thereto, insofar as dogs are concerned, tbe payment of the <br />license fee as provided in Section I of tbis ordinance if tbe parti- <br />cular dog has not been previously licensed for the current year. <br /> <br />Section 10. DISPOSITION OF UNClAIMED DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS. <br />Sbould the owner or keeper of any impounded dog, cow, horse, jack, <br />jennet, sbeep, goat or otber like animal fail to redeem same as <br />provided in Section 9. of this ordinance witbin tbe seventy-two (72) <br />bours provided, tben any such animal may be destroyed in a manner <br />approved by the Americ~ Humane Society.
