~
1- of San/Uuws

POST OFFICE BOX 725/SAN MARCOS, TEXAS 78666/AC 512 392-2417

February 20, 1969

Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of San Marcos
San Marcos, Texas

Gentlemen and Or. Craddock:

The following remarks refer to the February 18, 1969, Planning and Zoning Com-
mission meeting:

I

Chairman Hinton read a letter from Curtis Briggs requesting that the Planning
and Zoning Commission accept his resignation, effective February 10, 1969. The
Commission voted unanimously to accept Mr. Brigg's resignation.

A request was received from Mr. H. M. Thompson on a change of zoning on part of
Lots 3 & 4 of Block 1 of the R. H. Belvin Subdivision, located at 727 Belvin Street,
from "R-l" (single-family residential) to "MOl (mixed). Mr. Thompson wishes to place
a mobile home on his property. After due discussion, the Commission voted to deny
the request. The Commission felt that it would be better for Mr. Thompson to wait
until after passage of the Ordinance amending the Zoning Ordinance in regard to
trailer houses, before making application to the Commission.

A petition for annexation of a lot on the corner of LBJ Drive and Lamar Street was
received from A. R. Adcock. The Adcock property is within a larger area previously
discussed as suitable for annexation. Jack Major stated that City Manager Bean had
established that water and sewer would be available in the larger area not presently
in the City Limits. A map of the annexation proposed by the Planning and Zoning
Commission, showing the utility lines, is attached. After due discussion, it was
agreed to recommend to the City Council that they approve this proposal.

Jack Major presented the Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance concerning mobile homes.
Incorporated were improvements suggested after the first consideration by the Com-
mission. After thorough discussion, two items were added. The Amendment is ready
for final approval by the City Council.

A five year plan for street lighting improvements and additions, prepared by LCRA
on request of City Manager Bean, was brought before the Commission. A copy of the
program outlined by LCRA is attached. After due discussion, the program was approved,
and it was agreed to suggest to the Council that first priority would go to areas
that are not currently lighted at all or that need replacements; second, that Mer-
cury Vapor lights on one side of the Seguin Highway be installed, due to schools in
that area.

I
