The City Manager <br />stated the Planning & Zoning Commission had approved <br />the Ordinance, after thorough study. Mr. Flores asked <br />the City Manager if there were a possibility that trailers <br />could be taxed. Mr. Bean answered in the affirmative. <br />On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />~AY: <br /> <br />Dannelley, Flores, Pool, Serur, Smith, Zavesky <br />None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and <br />Adopted. <br /> <br />An ordinance annexing 37.8 acres of property northwest <br />of Lyndon B. Johnson Drive was presented the Council <br />for. consideration. Caption is as follows: <br /> <br />AN OROINANCE SETTING A DATE AND PLACE .FOR A <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION <br />OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PUBLISH NOTICE <br />OF SUCH HEARING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />A plat of the area was provided for study. The annex- <br />ation had been proposed by the Planning & Zoning Com. <br />Mr. Dannelley moved that the area be annexed, exclud- <br />ing the last two lots on Lamar. Mr. Zavesky seconded <br />the motion. David Pool, members of the Planning & <br />Zoning ~ommission, protested, changing the Brea <br />recommended. He said the Planni,ng & Zoning Commission <br />had made a thorough study before recommending the annex- I <br />ation. A discussion on the two viewpoints ensued. <br />Mr. Dannelley withdrew his motion, with <::onsentof the <br />seconde~, and moved. that the annexation proposal be <br />r"turn.edto Planning & Zoning for study on annexation <br />of both sides of Lamar Street. Mr. Zavesky seconded <br />the motion and on roll ca~l,the following vote w~s <br />recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Dannelley, Flores, Serur, Zavesky <br />Pool, .Smith. <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion. carried. <br /> <br />Dr. Pool moved that a change of zoning on part of <br />Lot 9 of Rogers Subdivision #1 ,from "R~l" to "C" <br />{Commercial} be approved. Mr, Flores seconded the <br />motion. It was explained that the property-owner, <br />Mil ton B. Rogers, had applied for ,the change; t.he <br />public hearing was held by Planning & Zoning Com- <br />mission, and no protest was voiced. The Council <br />unanimously approved the change of zoning. <br /> <br />Dr. David R. T auch.was appoi nt"d by common consent <br />of th" Council', to fill the unel'pired term of <br />Curtis Briggs on the Planniog & Zoning Commi'ssion. <br />The term expires in October, 1972. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager pres"nted a five~year street <br />lighting plan for the City, developed by LcRA at <br />the request of Mr. Bean. The program was approved <br />by Planning & Zoning Commission, with the suggest- <br />ion that priority be given to areas not pre'sently <br /> <br />lighted at all or that need r"'placements, and that <br />mercury vapor lights be installed on one side of <br />
