<br />regular meeting, march 10, 1969 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock moved that the 2.9-acre tract on Lamar <br />Street be rezoned ND!, in accordance with the <br />recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Commission. <br />Mr. Serur seconded the motion and on roll call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br />ABSTAINING: <br /> <br />Craddock, Flores, Serur <br />Pool, Smith, Zavesky <br />Dannelley <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared a tie vote. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from the Planning & <br />Zoning Commission, approving annexation of approxi- <br />mately 47.3 acres in an area northwest of the College. <br />Dr. Craddock moved t~at the Mayor be authorized to <br />set a public hearing on the annexation for 3:30 p.m., <br />Th~~sd~YT March 27, 1969. Mr. Smith ~econded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Rodgers Storey, Chairman of the Highway Committee for <br />the Chamber of Commerpe, came before the Council to <br />propose Cl highway loop around the City. He illustrat- <br />ed his plan with ana.erial map of San Marcos. One <br />feature of the plan was an overpass and walkway over <br />IH 35 to alleviate traffic flow to the new Junior <br />High School. Approval of the overpass by the State <br />Highway Department would necessitate the City's ex- <br />tending Bishop Street to connect with Broadw.ay, on the <br />other side of IH 35. The plan was thoroughly discussed. <br />It was noted that much of th.e proposed loop would run <br />outside the City Limits, and wou.1d require support of <br />the County Commissioners. Dr. Craddock moved that the <br />Mayor be authorized to enter into conversation with <br />County tommissioners on the proposed loop, before mak- <br />ing application to the State Highway Department for the <br />overpass and walkway. Mr. Flores seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. The:" Mayor asked Mr. Sm.ith <br />and Mr. Zavesky to accompany him to Commissioners Court <br />to discuss the loop. Dr. Craddock moved that the Mayor <br />talk with the Highway Department ab.out the proposed <br />loop and .overpass.
