<br />regular meeting, march 24, 1969 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE WHICH <br />REGULATES TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS <br />AND HIGHWAY OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, BY <br />THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION TO BE DESIG- <br />NATED SECTION 56.1, TO CONTROL THE CUTTING <br />OF CORNERS BY DRIVING A VEHICLE FROM ONE <br />STREET INTO ANOTHER ACROSS ANY SIDEWALK OR <br />DRIVEWAY WITHOUT STOPPING; DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY; AND PROVIDING FOR LEGAL PUBLI- <br />CATION THEREOF <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock moved adoption of the Ordinance. Dr. Pool <br />seconded the motion and on roll call, the following <br />vote Was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Dannelley, Flores, Pool, Serur, Zavesky <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinence Passed, Approved <br />and Adopted. <br /> <br />Councilman Pool suggested that special publicity be <br />given the Ordinance prohibiting "cutting cornersH through <br />driveways and sidewalks, specifically, cutting through <br />service station driveways. <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock asked the Mayor to replace her on the <br />Steering Committee of Community Action, Inc. of Hays Co. <br />Dr. Craddock said she had been unable to attend meetings, <br />and felt committee members should function or resign. <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock read aloud a Resolution expressing apprec- I <br />iation to Dr. Pool for his six years' service on the <br />Council, and moved its approval. A copy of the Resolution <br />is at~ached and made a part of the Minutes. Councilman <br />Dannelley seconded the motion and on roll call, the follow- <br />ing v6te was recorded: <br /> <br />.A Y E: <br />NAY: <br />ABSTAINING: <br /> <br />Craddock, Dannelley, Flores, Serur, Zavesky <br />None <br />Pool <br /> <br />The Mayor reclared the Resolution Passed end Approved, <br />and presented Dr. Pool with a copy of the Resolution, <br />wi th , his personal thanks for. service on the Council. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on a visit with the State Highway <br />Department in reference to a highway loop around San Marcos. <br />District Engineer Tom Wood suggested the Council meet with <br />the State Highway Commission, on May 5. Dr. Cradd6ck moved <br />that the Mayor appoint a committee to meet with the State <br />Highway Commission on May 5. Mr. Zavesky seconded the mot- <br />ion, which passed unanimously. Mr. Zavesky, who, with the <br />Mayor, Mr/ Bean and Rodgers Storey, had attended the I <br />meeting with Mr. W06d, said it was his understahding that <br />Mr. Wood advised that the entire Council attend. It was <br />agreed by common consent that an attempt would be made to <br />get a large delegation to attend the May 5 meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Bean told the Council he would like to present the <br />map showing right-of-way requirements for the improvement <br />of Olmos (~essoms) Drive, Walnut Street, Cornell Street, <br />Academy and Holland Streets at the recessed meeting on <br />March 27, for the Council's final approval. <br /> <br />Mr. Bean stated the City would have to stop burning tresh <br />and garbage at the City Dump by July 1, when the new Anti- <br />Air Pollution bill becomes effective.
