<br />public hearing, recessed meeting <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />made a feasibility study of a thoroughfare route <br />around the College. When Lockwood, Andrews f1 <br />Newnam became the City's engineers, they were <br />asked to make a riew feasibility study for the best <br />route, from an engineering and cost standpoint. <br />The engineers recommended the same route around <br />the College as Isom Hale. The right-of-way will be <br />used for utility easements, as well as widening end <br />improvirig streets. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Ira Bowles, Dr. Robert W. Walts and J.N, Ballard <br />are emong those whose property will be affected by <br />right~of-way requirements for widening Walnut Street. <br />They protested approval of the plan, and asked that <br />the Council authorize study of an alternate plan. <br />Mayor Serur explained that two different engineering <br />firms, over a period of several years, had made de- <br />tailed studies of the topography, and the cost factors, <br />and he felt the Council should accept their recommendat- <br />ions forlong~~ange plans for San Marcos. <br />Dr. Pool moved approval of the right-of-way requirements <br />plan as ~utlined by Mr. Cole, and authorization to pro- <br />ceed with the purchase of required right-of-way. <br />Mr. Smith seconded the m~tion and on roll call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br />ABSTAINING: <br /> <br />Dannelley, Pool, Serur, Smith,Zavesky <br />None <br />Flores <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 4:40 p.m., to reconvene <br />at 2~00 pim., Wedne~day, April 2, for canvass of <br />the April 1 City Officers Election. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />;:'" .., .,'1' <br /> <br />/~~v-- <br /> <br />, ,____Ellis Serur, Mayor <br /> <br />~-------"i,~~'-- (y) <br />~~:tJ~,-l~:j.
