<br />- <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />)).-/'] <br /> <br />May 7, 1969 <br /> <br />To: <br /> <br />City Council of San Marcos <br />The Bridgebuilders of San Marcos <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />We respectfully seek financial help for the anti-rat, <br />anti-roach campaign in which we are cooperating with the <br />City-County Health Department. <br />Infestation of roaches in the homes of the poor people <br />of Sa~ Marcos has proved to be a far greater and more costly <br />problem than participants in the spraying program had antici- <br />pated. A major health problem apparently exists. and we feel <br />it urgent to combine forces to ameliorate the situation. <br /> <br />Because of the severity of infestation, our workers <br />have found that in many homes as much as one gallon of <br />pesticide is required. The pesticide costs $~~5 per gallon. <br />We have sprayed approximately 40 homes, attempting to limit <br />our services to those who cannot afford to purchase pesticide, <br />and city-County Health Department funds for this purpose are <br />exhausted. Bridgebuilders members are contributing funds for <br />the purpose, as well as their time in taking requests and ar- <br />ranging for volunteers for spraying. However, we are certain <br />that more funds will ~e needed. <br />We estimate, from Food Commodity recipients, that 250 <br />--families in San Marcos need the deroaching service. The cost <br />for inse()ticide for these homes should approximate ~&.\oo to $~()o. <br />We are therefore submitting this proposal to members of <br />the City Council of San Marcos, requesting tht the City ap- <br /> <br />propriate i~ooifor the project. <br />I <br /> <br />Sanitary conditions in the <br />Vy\ \ NJJ1;, ( '\ ';,! ,-' <br />
