I

I

I

regular meeting, may 12, 1969

page three

Mr. Contreras moved that, at the conclusion of the
regular business meeting, the Council go into executive
session to consider a personnel matter. Mr. Dannelley
seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

The City Manager reported developments on the proposed
Highway Loop around San Marcos. A letter from the Texas
Highway Department is attached. Mr. Dannelley commented
that the Highway Department had inferred that it would
be three to five years before the Loop could be completed,
and he felt there was a real need to go ahead with the
City's part. The Mayor said he had had a talk with County'
Judge Max Smith about the acquisition of right-of-way, since
it will be time-consuming, and expensive. Mr. Serur said
the previously discussed "Bishop Street extension" might
need reconsideration. Mr. Smith suggested that the Council
go out together and study possible routes, on the ground.
Mr. Serur moved that the City Manager be authorized to
write State Highway Engineer J,C. Dingwall, thank him for
his consideration, and tell him the City of San Marcos is
~~Qceeding with further studies on the Loop, as fast as
possible. Mr. Smith seconded the motion, which passed
unanimously.

The Council went into executive session at 8:10 p.m., and
recessed at 9:00 p.m., to reconvene in executive session
at the call of the Mayor.

/~/

C'L,J,/, /J/I': c:> c..-----'
/" c .-

Ellis
@ Mayor
....... !IIl..t\.

Serur

.

-

Luciano \H~~
Councilman

Emmie Craddock, Ph.D.
Councilwoman

(~~~ ~----~
F~~nk Con~as, ~

Councilman

Hollis W.
