The program is operating effectively with <br />the splendid cooperation of the school nurses, Welfare workers, <br />Southside Community Center, American G.I. Forum, churches, Health <br />Dept., Migrant Health Program, Emergency Food and Medical Services <br />Program, Gary Job Corps Center, and other interested agencies and <br />organizations. We are still distributing the third Thursday, Friday <br />and Saturday of every month from 9 to 12 a.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m. <br /> <br />We have moved out of the Guadalupe Hall where we were housed for the <br />last sixteen months. The building was converted into a catholic <br />Mission. The new Commodity Center is located directly behind the <br />new mission on Roosevelt Street. The Commodity Center is now under- <br />going minor repa i rs . <br /> <br />It is anticipated that this same building will be used as voting <br />'preci nct #6 The keys for the bui ldi ng wi 11 be kept by me and <br />Father Richard Trevino of St. John's Catholic Church. If any <br />time you need them or would like to inspect the building you may <br />contact either of us. <br /> <br />Many of the expenses for the Surplus CommOdity Program are being <br />borne jointly by the Emergency Food and Medical Services Program. <br />We have been able to coordinate these two activities very effect- <br />ively. I am enclosing a budget report for expenses to date and <br />our balance to date. <br /> <br />At this time, I would like to request $1,4QO.00 for th.e fiscal year <br />beginning September 1, 1969.
