<br />1- - <br />1 <br />I <br /> <br />regular meeting, july 28, 1969 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE DISPENSING OF GASOLINE <br />BY ANY PERSON OTHER THAN THE OWNER, OPERATOR OR <br />EMPLOYEE OF A GASOLINE SERVICE STATION: PROHIBITING <br />ANY PERSON OTHER THAN A COMPETENT ATTENDANT FROM <br />DISPENSING GASOLINE; PROHIBITING CERTAIN PERSONS <br />FROM PERMITTING OTHERS TO VIOLATE THIS ORDINANCE; <br />PROHIBITING THE DISPENSING OF GASOLINE UNLESS A <br />COMPETENT ATTENDANT IS PRESENT; PRESCRIBING THE TYPE <br />OF DISPENSING DEVICES THAT MAY BE USED, AND PROHIBIT- <br />ING ~HE USE OF CERTAIN DISPENSING DEVICES; DEFINING <br />TERMS; PROVIDING THIS ORDINANCE TO BE EFFECTIVE WITH- <br />IN THE CITY LIMITS; REPEALING PRIOR ORDINANCES IN <br />CONFLICT; CONTAINING SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING <br />PENALTY; AND PROVIDING EfFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Councilman Smith seconded the motion. On roll call the <br />following vote was r~corded: <br /> <br />AYE: Dannelley,Serur <br />NAY: Craddock, Contreras, Flores, Smith, Zavesky <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion defeated. <br /> <br />Mr. Smith moved that the Mayer appoint a committee to <br />study self-service gasoline stations. Dr. Craddock <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Jose Hinojosa appeared before the Council as spokesman <br />for a delegation from the Wallace Addition of San Marcos. <br />He presented a petition making three requests of the <br />Council: (1) to move junk vehicles and other Junk from <br />the streets and neighborhood; (2) to provide drainage <br />and paving; and (3) to install street lights 'at inter- <br />sections inWallce Addition. The petition is attached. <br />Mr. Hinojosa said they had already learned that the City <br />could not remove junk from private property, and that <br />resident~ had requested offending neighbors to remove <br />the vehicles themselves, with the result that the wholi <br />neighborhood was looking better. The Mayor told Mr. <br />HinOjosa that ~ itreet l~ght program had been adopted by <br />the Council over a year 8go;that LCRA had sta~ted <br />installation of it~eet lights at all intersections in the <br />City. Drainage problems and paving in Wallace Addition <br />were discussed by the ~ouncil. Dr. Craddock moved that <br />the City engineers be instructed to make a study of the <br />d~ainage and paving in Wallace Additi6n. Mr~ Contreres~ <br />seconded the motion. He commended the people for the <br />impi'oved appearance of their property. Mr.' Flores said <br />it was fortunate that the drainage situation was not as <br />difficult to correct as Sunset Acres Addition had been, <br />On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Contreras, Dannelley, Flopes, Serur, <br />Smi th, iavesky <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Gene Richardson came before the Council w1th a re~~es~, <br />from Alamo Region Sports Car Club of Americ;,a to hold ' <br />races at Municipal Airport, Aug. 30-31. Safety measures, <br />insurance, and other relevant matters were discussed. <br />Mr. Dannelley moved that the request be granted, subject <br />to the concurrence of the City Attorney.
