<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1979-l3-R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />REQUESTING THAT THE TEXAS <br />DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC <br />TRANSPORTATION UPDATE THE CITY <br />POPULATION SIGNS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas, desires that signs indicating the population of the <br />City of San Marcos be as accurate as possible; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, according to the latest report of the U. S. <br />Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census, the City's popu- <br />lation was 23,288 as of July I, 1975; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 1975 population figure reflects a 23.5% <br />increase over the 1970 census figure of 18,860; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, studies of residential housing starts, new <br />active water meter accounts and a comparison of the birth- <br />rate over the deathrate indicate an increase of 1066 <br />additional residents over the last census report; now, <br />therefore: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART I. That the City Council hereby requests that <br />the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation <br />prepare population signs for the City of San Marcos, Texas, <br />which reflect the figure 24,354 to be the population of the <br />City as of January 1, 1979. <br /> <br />PART 2.
