<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1978-12-R <br /> <br />A RESOWTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE <br />HELD ON THE 1ST DAY OF APRIL, 1978 FOR THE PURPOSE <br />OF ELECTING OFFICIALS FOR SAID CITY AND ESTABLISH- <br />ING PROCEDURE FOR SAID ELECTION. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas provide that on April 1,,1978, there <br />shall be elected the following officials for this City: <br /> <br />Council Member, Place 4 <br />Council Member, Place 5; and <br /> <br />\lliEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas further provide that the Election Code <br />of the State of Texas is applicable to said election, and in oroer to comply <br />with said Code, an oroer should be passed establishing the procedure to be <br />followed in said election, and designating the voting places and presiding <br />officials for said election; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That all independent candidates at the election to be held on the first <br />Saturday in April 1, 1978, for the abovementioned offices file their application <br />to become candidates for Place 4 or Place 5 with the Mayor of this City at <br />City Hall, on or before 30 days before the date of said election. <br /> <br />PART 2. That all of said applications shall be substantially in the follOlJing <br />form: <br /> <br />"To the Mayor of the City of San Marcos, Texas: <br /> <br />I hereby request that my name be placed upon the official ballot for <br />the election to be held on the 1st day of April, 1978, as a candidate <br />for Place Co\IDcil Member of said City. I hereby certify that I <br />am above the age of 18 years, a qualified elector and have resided <br />12 months next preceding said election in said City, and I am eligible <br />to hold office \IDder the Constitution of this State. <br /> <br />DATED this the <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />, 1978. <br /> <br />Name of Candidate <br /> <br />RECEIVED the <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />, 1978. <br /> <br />Mayor" <br /> <br />PARr 3. That all candidates shall file with said application the loyalty <br />affidavit required by Article 6.02 of the Election Code. <br /> <br />PART 4. That the Secretary of this City shall, in accoroance with the tenns <br />and provisions of Article 13.32 of the Election Code, post in her office 'the <br />names of all candidates who have filed their applications in accoroance with <br />the terms and provisions of this oroer, and said names shall be posted at a <br />conspicious place in said office for at least 10 days before said Secretacy <br />orders the same to be printed on the ballot for said election. <br /> <br />PART 5. That this City having eleven election precincts, said election shall <br />be held at the following places in said City and the following named persons <br />are hereby appointed officers for said election: <br /> <br />In Election Precinct No. 11, at Dunbar Center in said City, with <br />Yancy Yarbrough as Presiding Judge and Mrs. Celestino Mendez as <br />Alternate Presiding Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint <br />the necessary clerks to assist him which shall not exceed four <br />clerks. <br /> <br />In Election Precinct No. 12, at Guadalupe Center in said City, with <br />Joe Gonzales as Presiding Judge and Mrs. Luciano Flores as Alternate <br />Presiding Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary <br />clerks to assist him which shall not exceed four clerks. <br />
