<br />.~ <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />45 <br /> <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br />INDUSTRIAL TASK FORCE <br /> <br />This Industrial Task Force was appointed by Mayor Frank T. Arrendondo <br />in February 1978 with the assigned mission to bring together represent- <br />atives of the business community and representatives of the City <br />Council to formulate certain policies recommendations for both the <br />Chamber of Commerce and the City Council to use in the encouragement <br />of industrial development. These policy recommendations if adopted by <br />the Chamber of Commerce and its Economic Development Task Force, and <br />adopted by the San Marcos City Council will become the basic commitments <br />of both agencies in planning and echancement of industrial growth for <br />San Marcos and its environs. <br /> <br />Those appointed to this Task Force are: <br /> <br />Dick Burdick <br />Lupe Carbajal <br />Gilbert Tenerio <br />Jim Wise <br />Herbert A. Yarbrough, Jr.- <br />Ted Breihan <br /> <br />Thermon Manufacturing <br />Carbajal & Associates <br />Kyle In&urance Agency <br />First National Bank of San Marcos <br />Stokes-Yarbrough & Searcey <br />Ted Breihan Electric Company <br /> <br />Ex-Officio Members appointed are: <br /> <br />C. J. Webster <br />Gordon Thompson <br /> <br />City Manager, City of San Marcos <br />Executive View President, <br />San Marcos Chamber of Commerce <br />Mayor, City of San Marcos <br /> <br />Frank T. Arrendondo <br /> <br />The first meeting of the Task Force was March 8, 1978 at which time <br />Dick Burdick was elected Chairman. The presentation of recommendations to <br />City Council is scheduled fo~ August 7, 1978. <br /> <br />FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />1. What areas of town should be developed first as industrial sites? <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Due to consideration given to cost estimates in servicing the <br />various areas of town and considering needs for 5 to 10 years <br />from now versus acreage availability and the cost per acre to <br />develop and the fact that funding is already available for a storage <br />tank to the south area, this Industrial Task Force recommends <br />to the City Council that primary efforts of the City be in providing <br />adequate system utilities to that area surrounding the airport <br />(Lowman Field) and the Hays County Civic Center, south of San Marcos. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Who sould be responsible for extending utilities to particular site areas? <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />This Task Force recommends to the City Council the following premise: <br />The City to progr~ ~system network of water and waste water trunk <br />lines to serve a gM.&-al area. From point of connection of the system <br />to the area serviced would be the responsiblity of the developer or <br />
