<br />185b <br /> <br />b. Age and condition; emergency ambulances shall be of modern <br />manufacture, not older than five (5) years, and shall be in sound mechanical <br />condition. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />c. Tires: ambulances shall be equipped with five (5) tires which <br />have been specially designed and manufactured for high-speed, heavrduty ambulance serVl.( <br />and which are in sOW1d condition with at least 30% of the tread remaining. <br />d. Brakes of ambulances shall have power assistance and shall be <br />adequate in design, construction, size and type of material for repeated braking <br />from high speed without fading or failure. The brake linings must have a miniJ1lLllll <br />of Z5% of their original thickness'remaining. Brake drums shall be turned at regular <br />intervals to remove grooves caused by previous wear so that as far as possible <br />'corresponding wear on the drums will be equal to that of the brake shoes currently <br />in use. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />e. Windshield Wipers shall be driven electrically by one or more <br />motors and shall have two or more speeds. <br />f. Windshield Washers; windshield washers of the type regularly <br />furnished by the manufacturer will be furnished. <br />g. Directional Lights, self-cancelling directional lights as <br />regularly furnished by the manufacturer shall be furnished. <br />h. Emergency Flasher; an emergency flasher controlled with a <br />switch which will cause all four (4) turn indicator lights to'flash on and off <br />at the same time, regardless of ignition switch position shall be furnished on all <br />newly purchased equipment. <br />i. Heater; First quality heater as regularly furnished by the <br />manufacturer, suitable for the ambulance shall be provided. Heaters must be complete <br />with defrosters, factory installed or equivalent. <br />j. Safety Belts; Standard safety belts of the type regularly <br />furnished by the manufacturer shall be furnished for the driver and one (1) passengu' <br />in the front seat. Buckle on belts must be metal to metal, quick release type <br />and shal~ .c installed in the manner recommended by the lnanufacturer. <br />k. Windows and Windshield; shall be of safety glass. <br />1. Air Conditioning; First quality air conditioner capahle of <br />maintaining temperature in the ambulance at comfortable level shall be furnished. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />-2- <br />
