<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />291 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1977 - 57 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 9 OF <br />THE CITY CODE ENTITLED flELECTRICAL CODEfI, BY <br />DEFINING ADDITIONAL LICENSE CATEGORIES; CHANG- <br />ING LICENSING EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE <br />MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN'S RESTR),CTED LICENSE; <br />RAISING LICENSE EXAMINATION FEES, LICENSE FEES, <br />AND INSPECTION FEES; AND PROVIDING AN E~FECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Section 9-1 "Definitionsfl, of Chapter 9 of the City <br />Code entitled flElectrical Code", adopted by Ordinance Number 1971-35 <br />on December 27, 1971, be and is hereby, amended to include the follow- <br />ing license categories: <br /> <br />(d) The term "apprentice electricianfl, as used in this Chap-tel', is <br />defined to mean and include a person who is learning the trade of an <br />electrician and who works only under the direct supervision of a <br />master or journeyman electrician. <br /> <br />(e) The term flrestricted sign installation and repair serviceman", <br />as used in this Chapter, is defined to mean and include a pe~son en- <br />gaged in the business of installing electrical signs equipped with <br />electrical lighting fixtures, repairing such signs, or replacing any <br />electrical fixture on such signs; provided however that, the restricl <br />sign installation and repair serviceman may not install new electri- <br />cal fixtures on such sign. <br /> <br />Section 2. That Section 9-2 (d) of Chapter 9 of the City Code adopted <br />by Section 1.4 of Ordinance 1971-35 on December 27, 1971, be, and is <br />hereby, amended by repealing the current Section 9-2 (d), and by sub- <br />stituting in its place the following: <br /> <br />Section 9-2. Examining and supervising board of electricians. <br /> <br />(d) It shall be the duty of the board to pass upon all persons en- <br />gaged in the electrical business as master electricians, journeyman <br />electricians, and maintenance electricians. Whenever a person shall <br />successfully pass the examination prescribed by the board, said <br />board shall notify the city tax collector of such fact, and the city, <br />tax collector shall issue a license to such person so passing the <br />examination and shall record the issuance of such license in a book <br />to be kept by him or her for such purposes. No license shall be <br />issued to a master electrician until he shall have first given bond <br />in the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) conditioned upon full <br />and faithful compliance with the ordinance of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas, regulating installation and repair of electrical wiring and <br />apparatus. <br /> <br />Section 3. That Section 9-2 (f) of Chapter 9 of the City Code. adoptedl <br />by Section 1.6 of Ordinance 1971-35 on December 27, 1971, be, and is <br />hereby, amended by repealing the current Section 9-2 (f), and by sub- <br />stituting in its place the following: <br /> <br />Section 9-2. Examining and supervising board of electricians. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(f) Any person desiring a master electrician's license, a journey- <br />man electrician's license, or a maintenance electrician's restrictedl <br />license shall make application in writing to the city electrical <br />inspector requesting an examination covering such license. The <br />application shall be accompanied by the hereinafter specified fees. <br />The required examination fees are not refundable. An applicant for <br />a master electrician's license shall show proof of five (5) years <br />experience as a licensed journeyman electrician. An applicant for <br />a journeyman electrician's license or a maintenance electrician's <br />restricted license shall show proof of two (2) years experience as <br />a licensed apprentice. No examination shall be required fo]O person~ <br />desiring the apprentice electrician's license or the restricted sig! <br />installation and repair serviceman's license~ <br />
