<br />32-b <br /> <br />EXHIBIT B <br /> <br />Code: <br /> <br />Professional and Managerial Group <br />Miscellaneous Professional Series <br /> <br />CLASS TITLE: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR <br /> <br />CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: <br /> <br />Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, coordinates and admin- <br />isters the Community Development program: and performs related work as required. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Plans, staffs, directs, assigns, and supervises work of sub-professional, <br />technical and clerical personnel engaged in a program of community development; <br />directs the overall planning and execution of programs, including real property <br />purchases, construction of new housing, housing and family relocation, and <br />rehabilitation of existing housing and real property involving community development <br />and redevelopment to prevent and eliminate blight areas; assists in the planning <br />for related comm~nity development public works proj ects and coordinates related <br />community development programs with other departments; conducts meetings with <br />federal, state, county and city legislative and administrative officials as well as <br />citizen groups concerning plans and proposals for community development; speaks <br />before local, professional and citizen groups, providing educational information <br />and promoting citizen participation; coordinates community development projects with <br />city, county, regional, state and federal agency plans; serves as secretary to the <br />Urban Renewal Board; prepares and administers the department budget; prepares and <br />supervises reports and papers reflecting status, progress, goals and achievement, <br />as directed. <br /> <br />DESIRABLE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Training and Experience: Graduation from college or university with degree in I <br />urban planning or public administration and at least five years of progressively <br />responsible experience in urban planning, community development, or urban renewal <br />administration; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. <br /> <br />Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of principles of city <br />planning and/or urban development, state and federal laws pertaining to urban and <br />community development, public housing and public facilities loans and grants. <br /> <br />Ability to plan, organize, assign, supervise and inspect the work of professional <br />and technical personnel; exceptional ability to write professional and technical <br />reports and papers. <br /> <br />Code: <br /> <br />Clerical and Office Group <br />General Clerical Group <br /> <br />CLASS TITLE: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT <br /> <br />CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: <br /> <br />Under direction, performs complex and varied office and/or field work; <br />assembles data and prepares reports; supervises clerks as required: and performs <br />related work as required. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br /> <br />Serves as a staff aide in an operating department or to the City Manager, <br />assisting in planning and expediting the work of the department or a particular <br />function in that department; collects and analyzes data and makes reports; monitors <br />various programs and advises status and corrective action; prepares and coordinates <br />federal and state applications for grants-in-aide; may supervise clerical works and <br />file maintenance: deals with the public, fellow employees and other departments in <br />coordinating assigned work and projects; assists in enforcement of administrative <br />
