<br />32-g <br /> <br />compilation forms; makes estimates of cost of engineering projects; performs <br />complex drafting, computational and design duties in the preparation of plans <br />and specifications for street paving, sewer and water construction and other <br />engineering projects; performs technical w.ork in the design of drainage systems, <br />water distribution systems and similarly related engineering projects; inspects <br />installation .of water and sewer mains, or other construction projects, to insure <br />compliance with plans and specifications; calculates the cuts for sewer and water <br />mains, related pr.ojects; responsible for ascertaining that adequate tests are made <br />on subgrade base, h.ot mix asphalt, concrete and other material; performs inspections <br />of contract projects (private and public), including street paving, water and waste- <br />water line construction, curb and gutter and manhole construction, and miscellaneous <br />public works; may act as chief of party in laying out and supervising work of field <br />party on more complex surveys. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />DESIRABLE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> <br />Training and Experience: Graduation from high scho.ol supplemented by courses in <br />drafting or surveying and mathematics and f.our years experience in sub-professional <br />engineering work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. <br /> <br />Kn.owledge, Abilities and Skills: Considerable knowledge of the fundamental prin- <br />ciples of civil engineering as applied to municipal engineering; knowledge of the <br />proper use and care of surveying equipment; kn.owledge of a wide variety of records <br />of the engineering department. <br /> <br />Ability to keep survey notes and to write reports; ability to make arithmetic <br />and trigometric calculations rapidly and accurat.ely; ability to d.o complex drafting, <br />computational and design work with minimum amount of supervision; ability to translate <br />survey notes into maps, plans, profiles, cross-sections and legal descriptions; <br />ability to perf.orm inspecti.ons of construction projects; ability to supervise <br />sub.ordinate employees; ability to establish and maintain effective working relation- <br />ships with employees, officials, and the public. <br /> <br />Code: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Custodial, Labor and Trades Group <br />Parks and Grounds Maintenance.
