<br />160 <br /> <br />RESOllJTICN 198J:28R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AND SOUTHWEST TEXAS STATE <br />UNIVERSITY EDWARDS AQUIFER RESEARCH AND DATA CENTER <br />FOR NUTRIENT TESTING IN CONJUNCTION WITH A UNITED <br />STATES DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY WASTEWATER TREATMENT <br />PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF SAID CITY <br />TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACT AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos, Texas has received a grant from <br />the United States Department of Energy (No. 80R6l2066) to investigate <br />the use of solar energy in the treatment of wastewater; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on September 23, 1980, said City entered into a Letter <br />of Agreement with David Venhuizen, the creater of the project which is <br />the subject of the grant, for the implementation of the project; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said City is required under the terms of that Letter of <br />Agreement to collect wastewater samples from equipment placed by David <br />Venhuizen to be used in testing for the presence of various nutrients <br />at least twice monthly; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of said City believes the Edwards Aquifer <br />Research and Data Center, of Southwest Texas State University, under <br />the direction of Dr. Glenn Longley, is capable of providing said re- <br />quired laboratory analyses of the collected wastewater samples; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That the contract between the City of San Marcos, Texas <br />and Southwest Texas State University Edwards Aquifer Research and Data <br />Center for nutrient testing in conjunction with United States Depart- <br />ment of Energy Grant No. 80R6l2066, a copy of which is attached hereto <br />and incorporated herein for all intents and purposes, be, and the same <br />is hereby, approved in all respects. <br /> <br />PART 2. That the City Mangger of said City A.C. Gonzalez, be, <br />and he is hereby, authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />PART 3.
