<br /> 7. <br /> 8. <br /> 8A. <br />I 9. <br /> 10. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1()3-a <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />FLOODWAY - The mlnlmum areas of a riverine flood <br />plain reasonably required for passage of flood waters. <br /> <br />FLOODWAY ENCROACHMENT LINES - ~he lines marking the <br />limi ts of fl oodways on the offi cial Flood Hazard <br />Boundary Map. <br /> <br />MAJOR REPAIR - The reconstruction or renewal of any <br />structural part of an existing building for the <br />purpose of its maintenance. <br /> <br />RIVERINE - Structures located beside a river, stream, <br />or water course. <br /> <br />START OF CONSTRUCTION - The placement of permanent <br />construction, such as pouring~f footings or any <br />work beyond the stage of excavation. Permanent con- <br />struction does not include land preparation; land <br />clearing, grading, or fi lling. <br /> <br />11. SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENT - Any repair, reconstruction, <br />or improvement of a property, the cost of which equals <br />or exceeds 50 percent of the fair market value of the <br />property either (a) before the improvement is started <br />or (b) if the property has been damaged and is being <br />restored, before the damage occurred. Substantial <br />improvement i ss tart ed when the firs tal tera tion. of <br />any wall, ceiling, floor, or other structural part of <br />the building COmmences. <br /> <br />12. WATER SURFACE ELEVATION DATA -The elevation in rela- <br />tion to mesne sea level expected to be reached by <br />floods at various magnitures and frequencies at <br />pertinent points along a stream. <br /> <br />13. RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE - A structure which i.s built, <br />constructed, designed, or modified for occupancy by <br />an individual, family, or group of individuals, <br />containing the fac.ilities for food preparation, <br />dining, sleeping, and sanitary provisions to allow <br />day by day living. <br /> <br />SECTION 3: Flood Hazard Area Identification Maps, Official <br />Number 4 - R -30313; officially issued the 1st day ~f June, <br /> <br />1971, mesne sea level (msl) water-surface elevations of a flood <br /> <br />with one percent chance of occurring during any year, either <br /> <br />shown on flood hazard area maps, or as other wise provided, and <br /> <br />floodway data to establish limits of encroachment of floodflow <br /> <br />restricting development, as provided by the Federal Insurance <br /> <br />Administration (FIA) shall be controlling in administration of <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />this ordinance. Both maps and data, by reference, are mad. a <br /> <br />part of thi s ordinance. Revi slons of maps and data, is sued <br /> <br />officially by FIA, shall automatically replace prior issuances. <br /> <br />They shall become official on their effective dates, but shall not <br /> <br />be applied retroactively in administering this ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 4: A 11 offi ci a 1 maps with cont 1"0 11 ing e leva tion <br /> <br />and :f1~odway data, after issuance, are available for public <br /> <br />inspection at the City Hall of the City of San Marcos,200 <br /> <br />Guadalupe Street, San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />L <br />
