(21)MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Porterfield and a second by <br />Councilmember Thomaides, the City Council voted three (3) for and four (4) opposed, with • <br />Mayor Narvaiz and Councilmembers Thomason, Terry and Thomaides voting against, to adopt <br />Resolution 2010 -95R. The motion failed. <br />(25)MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Jones and a second by Councilmember <br />Thomason, the City Council voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed, with Councilmember Jones <br />abstaining, to approve Change in Service No. 5 to the McCarty Lane Improvements Project. The <br />motion carried. <br />(27)MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Jones and a second by Councilmember <br />Thomason, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to approve Change Order <br />No. 5 for the Wonder World Drive Extension Project, amended to not exceed $573,472.71. The <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />33. Public Hearing to receive comments for and against an ordinance changing the name of <br />a portion of East McCarty lane, from its intersection with Old Bastrop Highway (CR 266) <br />to its current terminus point at the City limit line (2600 block of East McCarty Lane), to <br />"Rattler Road "; and including procedural provisions; and consider ordinance on the first <br />of two readings. <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the Public Hearing at 8:00 p.m. • <br />Muriel Sweeny, representing the senior class, stated it is customary for departing seniors to leave <br />a gift, and they want to change the name of that portion of McCarty Road to Rattler Road. She <br />believes the students of San Marcos High School have put San Marcos High School on the map. <br />They have had a baseball team and a soccer team go to the state playoffs, and other worthy <br />accomplishments. They have done their job and put San Marcos High School on the map <br />metaphorically. They are committed to their school and to the community. Rattler pride runs <br />deep. This will greatly impact the senior class, classes to come and the community. <br />There being no further comments, the Public Hearing was closed at 8:02 p.m. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Terry and a second by Councilmember <br />Porterfield, the City Council voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed, with Councilmember Jones <br />absent from the dais, to approve the ordinance on the first of two readings. The motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />34.
