The City Council directed staff to negotiate the length of the <br />. contract. <br />4) Should the contract require the airport be self - sustaining before 25% revenue to operator <br />begins, or as a performance measure for contract extension? Council consensus was for <br />the airport to be self - sustaining and recommended that staff negotiate a shared revenue. <br />5) Should revenue sharing be capped? Council consensus was yes, one component being to <br />base revenue on new business rather than increasing fees to existing tenants. <br />4. Question and answer session with press and public. <br />Charles Soechting asked when the Council would address the allegations against the Airport <br />Commission. Mayor Narvaiz replied she would agendize this for the next regular City Council <br />meeting. <br />Shaun Maycock asked if there would be any checks and balances with the City and Texas <br />Aviation Partners if there were any merchant complaints. Mayor Narvaiz answered yes and <br />there may be an ombudsman that anyone can go to. <br />Ted Dake asked why the City Council appointed a vendor from the airport to the Airport <br />Commission Mayor Narvaiz explained that the process involves taking applications online, who <br />are then considered and voted on in public meeting. Some boards and commissions have <br />specific requirements; however, this one does not require specific experience. <br />5. Adiournment <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Terry and seconded by Councilmember <br />Thomason, the City Council voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed, to adjourn the special <br />session of the San Marcos City Council at 12:56 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010.
