3) Length of the contract? The City Council directed staff to negotiate the length of the
. contract.
4) Should the contract require the airport be self - sustaining before 25% revenue to operator
begins, or as a performance measure for contract extension? Council consensus was for
the airport to be self - sustaining and recommended that staff negotiate a shared revenue.
5) Should revenue sharing be capped? Council consensus was yes, one component being to
base revenue on new business rather than increasing fees to existing tenants.
4. Question and answer session with press and public.
Charles Soechting asked when the Council would address the allegations against the Airport
Commission. Mayor Narvaiz replied she would agendize this for the next regular City Council
meeting.
Shaun Maycock asked if there would be any checks and balances with the City and Texas
Aviation Partners if there were any merchant complaints. Mayor Narvaiz answered yes and
there may be an ombudsman that anyone can go to.
Ted Dake asked why the City Council appointed a vendor from the airport to the Airport
Commission Mayor Narvaiz explained that the process involves taking applications online, who
are then considered and voted on in public meeting. Some boards and commissions have
specific requirements; however, this one does not require specific experience.
5. Adiournment
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Terry and seconded by Councilmember
Thomason, the City Council voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed, to adjourn the special
session of the San Marcos City Council at 12:56 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010.
