MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Terry and a second by Councilmember <br />Jones, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to propose a tax rate of 53.02 <br />cents per $100 valuation. The motion carried unanimously. <br />29. Discussion on the duties and responsibilities of the Airport Commission, and provide <br />direction to Airport Commission members. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Thomaides and a second by <br />Councilmember Jones, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to table this <br />item until August 17. The motion carried unanimously. <br />32. Question and answer session with press and public. <br />Steve Harvey asked why the Council approved removing municipal experience from the City <br />Manager profile. Mayor Narvaiz replied they opened it up so that any CEO could apply. He <br />asked where he could view the RFP. The Mayor answered it was available in the City <br />Manager's office. He also inquired about the incentive discussed during Executive Session and <br />if anything other than what was posted on the agenda had been discussed. The Mayor said that it <br />could not be discussed since it was in Executive Session, and they did not talk about anything <br />other than what was on the agenda. He wanted to know why the City Manager search was a 60- <br />day process and why wasn't it an open competitive bid process, and she answered that they <br />wanted to complete it before the election and they had done the same as past protocol. <br />Christie Maycock asked when her proposal would be heard since the Airport Commission has <br />not met. Mayor Narvaiz replied that staff would follow up on that and let her know this week. <br />33.
