Mayor Narvaiz opened the Public Hearing at 8:4:1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. <br />There being no comments, Mayor Narvaiz closed the Public Hearing at 8:42 p.m. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Thomaides and a second by <br />Councilmember Bose, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to approve <br />Ordinance 2008-60, as previously captioned. The motion carried unanimously. <br />22. Consider an ordinance repealing Article 5, Commercial Animal Establishments, of <br />Chapter 18 Businesses, and amending Chapter 6, Animals, repealing most of the present <br />sections and providing new sections to modernize the chapter and to harmonize the chapter <br />with current state law; providing for criminal penalties, and consider ordinance on the first <br />of two readings. <br />Sharri Boyett, 2631 Oak Haven, said she was here to represent more than ten years of effort and <br />anyone that has ever rescued a stray. She helped to begin a project similar to what is being <br />considered tonight. She thanked the Animal Services Department, the city and county and all the <br />others working diligently to increase adoptions. This will do great things for the taxpayers. It <br />will enable us to be humane, and to do a better job by lessening euthanasia and controlling the <br />pet population. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Jones and a second by Councilmember <br />Thomaides, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to approve the ordinance, <br />as captioned, on the first of two readings. The motion carried unanimously. <br />23. Consider an ordinance amending Chapter 2, Article 3, Section 2.369 to revise the <br />composition of the Economic Development Board; including procedural provisions; and <br />declaring an effective date; and consider ordinance on the first of two readings. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Couch and a second by Councilmember <br />Terry, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to approve the ordinance, <br />amended to reflect the City Council Member is an ex officio voting member, on the first of two <br />readings. The motion carried unanimously. <br />24.
