ATTACHMENT A <br />PROFESSIONAL SERVICE INDUSTRIES, INC. <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />A. Geotechnical Engineering Services <br />The Consultant will: <br />1) Field Services <br />Perform field services by drilling test borings using truck mounted drilling equipment. Field services <br />include the following: <br />a) Staking of test boring locations at various sites and locations selected by the design team <br />using hand held GPS equipment; <br />b) Drilling of test borings utilizing conventional solid-stem auger and wet rotary drilling <br />methods to depths that would significantly affect or be affected by the foundation and <br />pavement systems; <br />c) Sampling of the subsurface materials (soils) encountered during the drilling operations in <br />general accordance with ASTM D-1587 (Shelby tube sampling) and ASTM D-1586 <br />(split-spoon sampling); <br />d) Sampling of the subsurface materials (rock) encountered during the drilling operations in <br />general accordance with ASTM D-2113 (NX size swivel type, double tube rock core <br />barrel); <br />e) Transportation of the samples to the Consultant's laboratory, for visual classification <br />using the Unified Soil Classification System; <br />f) Observation of the groundwater conditions during the drilling operations and at least 24- <br />hours after completion of the drilling operations; and <br />g) Estimation of ground surface elevations based on topographic information provided by <br />the City. <br />2) Laboratory Services <br />The Consultant's laboratories are equipped with modern soil testing apparatus. Laboratory testing is <br />performed by trained, qualified technicians under the guidance and supervision of professional engineers. The <br />Consultant's laboratory services include the following: <br />a) Visual classification of samples (ASTM D-2488); <br />b) Natural Moisture Content (ASTM D-2216); <br />c) Atterberg Limits (ASTM D-4318); <br />d) Percent Material Finer than No. 200 Sieve (ASTM D-1140); <br />e) Shear Strength Determination of various cohesive soil samples (ASTM D-2166); <br />f) Strength of intact rock samples (ASTM D-2938); and <br />g) Special testing of soils including pH, sulfate content, and resistivity will be performed in <br />order to determine soil corrosivity, upon request.
