3) Engineering Analysis and Reporting
The Consultant will use the results of the field exploration and laboratory tests in the engineering
analysis and in the formulation of the recommendations. The Consultant will assess the geotechnical
engineering impact of the subsurface conditions on the planned construction and provide
recommendations for foundation and pavement design as well as related construction. The Consultant's
report report will include the following:
a) A review of surface topographical features, geologic features, and site conditions;
b) Logs of test borings presenting subsurface stratigraphy with pertinent available physical
properties and ground water conditions;
c) A plan showing the locations of the test borings;
d) Seismic design site classification per the International Building Code;
e) Recommendations for building pad preparation for ground supported slabs.
f) Recommendations for design of foundations to be used for support of the proposed structure,
including recommended bearing depths and capacities, anticipation of and management of
groundwater, and the anticipated magnitude of total foundation settlement and differential
settlement between adjacent foundation elements.
g) Recommendations for site excavation, fill compaction, use of on-site and imported fill materials.
h) Recommendations for flexible pavement profile thicknesses and subgrade modulus and support
characteristics for rigid concrete pavement systems.
Not included in the Consultant's Geotechnical Scope of Services are services associated with locating
underground utilities, reviewing foundation drawings, preparing construction specifications, attending special
conferences providing environmental consulting, and any other work requested after submittal of our report.
The Consultant will exercise reasonable caution to avoid damages to underground utilities by contacting
local utility companies prior to our field activities. However, utility locations on the owners' side of the meter
are often unknown by utility companies and by the utility owners. Therefore, the Consultant will not be
responsible for damage to any buried utilities that are not made known to it.
2
