The <br />growth can be primarily attributed to <br />the infusion of jobs in the high <br />technology industry. Austin has grown <br /> <br />at an average annual rate of 3.74 <br />percent since 1990, increasing by <br />258,048 residents. The Austin-San <br />Marcos MSA population has increased <br />by 285,048 residents since 1990, <br />growing at an average annual rate of <br />3.26 percent.
