Councilmember Terry said he would use compensation for a separate storefront office so that • <br />citizens would have a place to go when they want to speak with him. <br />Councilmember Porterfield stated we need to see what other similar cities are doing. <br />Councilmember Couch agreed with Councilmember Porterfield. She noted that compensation <br />might open up more opportunities for other citizens to step up because it is a lot of work. <br />Councilmember Bose said he would like to see a committee appointed. <br />Mayor Narvaiz said this is a sensitive issue. She feels we should gather what is customary from <br />other cities. She pointed out that this needs to be addressed within our means. She suggested <br />that the first step is to gather information with staff, and then perhaps appoint a citizen <br />committee for further research. <br />Direction to staff was to have staff compile as much information from similar cities as possible <br />and bring back to the Council. <br />24. Adiournment. • <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Jones and a second by Councilmember <br />Couch, the City Council voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed, to adjourn the regular session of <br />the San Marcos City Council at 9:29 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009.
