Sec. 14.002. Adoption of codes. <br />(a) The following codes are adopted to govern construction and construction- related <br />activities: <br />(1) International Building Code 2009 Edition, including Appendices C, E, F, I. <br />(2) International Property Maintenance Code 2009 Edition, Including Appendix <br />A. <br />(3) International Mechanical Code 2009 Edition. <br />(4) International Plumbing Code 2009 Edition. <br />(5) International Fuel Gas Code 2009 Edition. <br />(6) International Residential Code for One- and Two - Family Dwellings 2009 <br />Edition. <br />(7) National Electrical Code 2008 Edition. <br />(8) International Energy Conservation Code 2009 Edition. <br />(9) International Fire Code 2009 Edition, including Appendices B, D, E, F, G, I <br />and J. <br />(b) If there is a conflict between a state law and an adopted code or this chapter, then the <br />state law will take precedence. In cases of conflicts between a provision of the San <br />Marcos Code and these adopted codes, the provision of the San Marcos Code will take <br />precedence. Otherwise, all structures shall be designed, built, and maintained in <br />accordance with these adopted codes. <br />(c) Local amendments to these adopted codes are contained in Articles 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 8, 9, <br />10, 11 and 12 of this ordinance which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by <br />reference. <br />(d) Any reference to the existing building code should be considered to mean the 2009 <br />International Building Code with Appendices and local amendments adopted herein. <br />Sec. 14.003. Building inspection division. <br />The building inspection division is established within the planning and development services <br />department. This division will be supervised by the building official. The building official is <br />appointed by the director of development services. The building official may designate a person <br />
