1.5 TASK 5 — DYED WATER FLOODING/LEAK QUANTIFICATION
The Consultant will:
1.5.1 Identify interconnections, pinpoint inflow sources and quantify selected collection line,
manhole, and service line leaks that were identified based on the results of previous tasks. The
Consultant will base leak quantification estimates on field measurements and empirical values
developed from past experience.
1.5.2 Perform leak quantification for approximately 10 locations, to be determined during
smoke testing, using portable weirs or hydrostatic devices in conjunction with dyed water
flooding. The Consultant will provide the City's representative with a listing of candidates for
sanitary sewer dyed water flooding for approval before the operation begins. The Consultant will
record the dyed water testing on DVD in WMP or compatible format. The Consultant will use
this information to evaluate I/I rates and compare to flow monitoring results to determine
quantities of I /I. The Consultant will perform a portion of the dye flooding in conjunction with
closed circuit television inspection activities (Task 8).
1.5.3 Prepare a technical memorandum outlining the results of this task for review by the City.
The technical memorandum will provide tabular and graphical listings of flooded/quantified
system assets. The Consultant will provide the City with both hardcopy and electronic formats
(Word, Excel or Access) of this memorandum.
1.6 TASK 6 — FLOW ISOLATION
The Consultant will:
1.6.1 Divide the major basins into smaller areas (2,000 -5,000 L.F.) and take weir readings
during minimum flow periods (11 p.m. -6 a.m.) to determine if infiltration rates from
groundwater require additional investigation. The Consultant will isolate approximately 10
locations using this method.
1.6.2 Prepare a technical memorandum outlining the results of this task for review by the City.
The technical memorandum will provide tabular listings of locations showing evidence of
significant groundwater infiltration. The Consultant will provide the City with both hardcopy and
electronic formats (Word, Excel or Microsoft Access 20 10) of this memorandum.
1.7 TASK 7 — SANITARY SEWER MAIN CLEANING
The Consultant will:
1.7.1 Clean approximately 5% (based on the estimated total footage of 87,968 total footage
where 5% is an estimated 4,398 feet) of the total footage of sewer lines in the study area. The
Consultant will provide the City's representative with a listing of the sanitary sewer main
Burgess and Niple, Inc. Engineering Services Agreement
6
