<br />1.2.2 Identify and perform an initial assessment of existing geotechnical information along <br />potential pipe alignment routes. <br /> <br />1.2.3 Identify and assess available environmental studies to determine relevance to the Project. <br /> <br />1.2.4 Obtain and review existing topographic information including aerial maps to determine <br />adequacy for Project use. <br /> <br />1.2.5 Meet with the City to discuss available and necessary additional data. <br /> <br />1.3 TASK 1 - PRELIMINARY DESIGN <br /> <br />The Engineer will: <br /> <br />1.3.1 Identify two prospective water main alignments based on the characteristics and locations <br />of the required beginning and termination points of the pipeline. <br /> <br />1.3.2 For each alternative alignment, conduct a field site evaluation to identify critical <br />constraints including assessments of environmental issues, future water system needs and other <br />potential constraints. <br /> <br />1.3.3 For each proposed alternative alignment, develop a constraints map. <br /> <br />1.3.4 In conjunction with the City, establish the preferred pipeline route. <br /> <br />1.3.5 Assist the City in contracting with geotechnical companies for investigations along the <br />preferred alignment. <br /> <br />1.3.6 Assess easement requirements with respect to site access and Project constructability <br />including preparation of preliminary easement descriptions. <br /> <br />1.3.7 Use its route topographic profile information to develop preliminary plan and profile <br />sheets for the proposed alignment including preliminary hydraulic profiles. Engineer will <br />provide all water line design and construction specifications using a Microstation CAD platform. <br /> <br />1.3.8 fucorporate findings of the environmental and archeological reviews conducted as part of <br />this Agreement, and make aligmnent adjustments on the preliminary plan and profile sheets. <br /> <br />1.3.9 Assess and prepare a report regarding the need and technical requirements for providing <br />cathodic protection to the water main. <br /> <br />1.3.10 Conduct monthly meetings with the City and other interested parties to review progress <br />on the Proj ect. Both parties assume that preliminary design will last 3 months and that there will <br />be no more than 4 meetings during this Task. Based on these meetings, the Engineer will <br /> <br />3 <br />
