Kyle <br />Maysel, Chairman of San Marcos Parking AdvisorYr stated this issue was <br />discussed with the delivery trucks. He stated the problem has been worked <br />outr because there have been no complaints. He stated with the new route <br />the delivery trucks seem to have a better view. He also stated he feels <br />this is the best solution for a bad situation. He stated other problems <br />were eliminated when the phone poles were moved and stop signs were moved <br />behind poles to allow delivery trucks to make wider turns. The Council <br />agreed by consensus to keep the current Ordinance as it is. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced receiving a presentation and holding discussion <br />regarding Union Pacific Railroad freight trains. Fire Chief Baker and <br />Laurie Anderson, Director of Engineering, provided the Council with a <br />Powerpoint presentation regarding trains in San Marcos. Mr. Mihalkanin <br />stated he is concerned Union Pacific does not notify San Marcos with their <br />operation changes when they impact safety of the residents. Mr. Thomaides <br />stated train issues are one of the top Legislative issues. He stated he <br />feels residents and Council need to speak to United States Representatives <br />and Texas Representatives about the train situation. He stated he also <br />feels continuing to collect data will also help make a stronger case for <br />relocating the freight trains outside the City. He stated he feels the City <br />needs a 2-1-1 liner so residents can report daysr times and intersections <br />blocked by trains. Mayor Narvaiz asked the media to support the relocating <br />of the freight trains by publishing personal stories of citizens who have <br />been affected by blocking trains. The Council agreed by consensus for Staf <br />to develop data about train stoppage. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding City Council direction of <br />future agenda items. 1) Mr. Bose stated he would like an update on the <br />electric pole attachment agreement. 2) Mr. Taylor stated he would like to <br />have a discussion regarding housing and commercial start ups. 3) Mr. <br />Thomaides asked Staff to develop a procedure for a timeframe and how to <br />proceed when Council is considering recommendation for changes from Boards <br />or Commissions. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced continuing Executive Session pursuant to the <br />Government Coder Section 551.072 and 551.073r to discuss the purchase of <br />real property (Aquarena Springs Drive/post Road area)i Section 551.074, to <br />discuss the duties of a public officer (City Attorney) at 9:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz announced the Council would reconvene at 9:50 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration action or direction to Staff on <br />matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated Council provid~ <br />direction regarding the purchase of property located at Aquarena Sprin <br />Drive/Post Road area. He stated Council also provided direction regardi <br />the City Attorney. <br />
