The City of San Marcos is a Home Rule City with a Charter approved by the voters of the <br />City pursuant to Article II, Section 5 of the Texas Constitution. <br /> <br />2. Section 211.007 (b) of the Texas Local Government Code authorizes the City Council to <br />hold a joint public hearing with the City Plalllung and Zoning Commission related to proposed <br />amendments to zoning regulations and zoning district boundaries. <br /> <br />3. Section 211.007 (d) of the Texas Local Government Code authorizes the City Council, by a <br />two-thirds vote, to prescribe the type of notice to be given of the time and place of a joint public <br />hearing of the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission related to proposed amendments <br />to zoning regulations and zoning district boundaries. <br /> <br />4. The City Council fmds and determines that j oint public hearing(s) of the City Council and <br />Planning and Zoning Commission are appropriate for consideration of a proposed new Official <br />Zoning Map ofthe City, and related amendments to the Future Land Use Map. <br /> <br />5. The City Council finds and determines that the procedure described below is necessary <br />and appropriate for providing notice of the joint public hearings of the City Council and Planning <br />and Zoning Commission for consideration of a proposed new Official Zoning Map of the City, and <br />related amendments to the Future Land Use Map. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. The above Recitals are found to be true and correct and are incorporated into <br />the body of this ordinance as if copied in their entirety. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. A public hearing will be jointly held by the City Council and the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission at 6:00 p.m. on June 7,2005 in the City Council Chambers, 630 East Hopkins <br />Street, San Marcos, Texas, to consider a proposed new Official Zoning Map of the City, and related <br />Future Land Use Map amendments, after wmch it is anticipated that the City Council will refer this <br />material to the Planning and Zoning Commission for further consideration. <br /> <br />SECTION 3.
