<br />injury claims; and <br /> <br />(3) be in a coverage amount of not less than $300,000 for all claims arising in anyone year <br />period. <br /> <br />(c) This article and Article 12 do not lessen the responsibility of any person installing, <br />operating or controlling any electric wiring or electrical apparatus for damages to anyone or for <br />performance of a contract. Neither the city nor any city officer or employee assumes any liability <br />because of inspection, certificate or permit pursuant to this article or Article 12. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.272. 1 Permit; licensing. <br /> <br />(a) To be issued an electrical permit an applicant must be: <br /> <br />(1) A licensed master electrician under state law; or <br /> <br />(2) Exempt from the state licensing law. <br /> <br />(b) A state licensed master electrician must register with the city yearly and show proof of both a <br />current state license and insurance before any work is performed within the city or on services <br />connected to the city's electric service; or <br /> <br />(c) If a permit applicant claims an exemption from the state licensing requirements because he owns <br />and presently resides in the building, and is planning to do the work himself, the applicant shall <br />provide an affidavit to the Building Official stating that he owns and presently resides in the building. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.273. Existing buildings. <br /> <br />If the occupancy classification of any existing building or structure, as determined in the <br />building code, or its use, as defined in chapter 114 pertaining to zoning, is changed, the electrical <br />equipment and systems in the building or structure shall be made to conform with this article before <br />the new occupancy is instituted. <br /> <br />Sees. 14.274--14.290. Reserved. <br /> <br />DIVISION 2. STANDARDS <br /> <br />Sec. 14.291. Applicability. <br /> <br />(a )This article controls over all other parts of this chapter if a conflict occurs between this article and <br />the electrical code or the code for one- and two-family dwellings, which are adopted in ~14.002. <br /> <br />(b) This article applies: <br /> <br />(1) throughout the city limits regardless of the electrical provider; and <br /> <br />(2) to all property, regardless of location, connected to the city electric utility system. <br /> <br />26 <br />
