<br />Payment of an exanlination fee is required each time a contractor applies for a license. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.376. Examination. <br /> <br />The construction board of adjustments and appeals, working in conjunction with the city staff, may <br />provide for testing of candidates for contractor's licenses through the use of SBCCI or ICe tests. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.377. Issuance, renewal of license. <br /> <br />(a) Upon receiving a passing grade on the examination for a license under this division, the building <br />official will issue a license to the successful candidate. <br /> <br />(b) No license will be issued for more than one year. A license may be renewed from year to year upon <br />application of the holder. All licenses issued under this division expire on the last day of December. <br /> <br />(c) Any licensee failing to make application for renewal of a license within 60 days after its expiration <br />is considered as an applicant for an original license. This section does not permit construction work by <br />a contractor with an expired license. <br /> <br />(d) A licensee shall have the appropriate license in his immediate possession at all times when doing <br />any construction work, and shall display it upon demand by any peace officer, by the building <br />inspector or building official, or by the owner or manager of the premises or property upon which the <br />licensee is working, offers to work or has worked. <br /> <br />(e) If a license or permit issued und€r this article is lost or destroyed, the person to whom it is issued <br />may obtain a duplicate upon furnishing proof satisfactory to the building official that the permit or <br />license was lost or destroyed and upon payment of a fee. <br /> <br />(f) Each person who obtains a license shall register with the building official. The registration will <br />include the person's name, residential address, and business address. If any changes occur in the <br />information provided, the licensee shall amend the registration to reflect the changes within ten <br />business days of the change. <br /> <br />(g) Prior to the renewal of any contractor's license, the contractor shall complete six hours of <br />continuing education approved by the building official. <br /> <br />Sec. 14.378. Reciprocal agreements and licenses. <br /> <br />( a) The city may enter into agreements with other jurisdictions for residential and general contractors <br />to obtain similar licenses in the city without taking the required examinations, provided the privilege is <br />extended by the other jurisdictions to allow residential and general contractors licensed by the city to <br />obtain licenses in those jurisdictions in a similar manner. <br /> <br />(b) Evidence shall be presented that the licensingjurisdiction issues licenses under conditions no less <br />restrictive than those in this article. <br /> <br />(c) The applicant shall have obtained the license in the other jurisdiction through testing. Double <br />reciprocating is not allowed. <br /> <br />33 <br />
