<br />176. <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />August 16, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />contributing an additional $56,081.05 to the project which in effect <br />maintains the $300,000.00 towards construction and provides the already <br />expended property costs as an additional contribution. He also stated the <br />remaining funding shortfall of $359,126.26 will need to be met by either <br />SMCISD or Hays County. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of <br />the Resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration Item 19, removed from the <br />consent agenda, adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />URGING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE TO OPPOSE STATE LEGISLATION THAT <br />WOULD DETRIMENTALLY AFFECT TEXAS CITIES; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Thomaides moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Taylor seconded <br />the motion. Mr. O'Leary stated the City is a member of the Texas Municipal <br />League. He stated the Council directed Staff to prepare a Resolution to <br />TML to consider forwarding to State legislation. The Council then voted <br />unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a public hearing on FY2005-2006 Budget. Mayor <br />Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. No <br />one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing and approval of <br />an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />CHANGING THE NAME OF SMITH AVENUE, FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH MOORE <br />STREET TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH RANCH ROAD 12, TO OSCAR SMITH STREET; <br />AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak. No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing. Mr. Taylor <br />moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading, and Mr. Guerrero <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously (Mr. Thomaides was not <br />present in the Council Chambers during this vote) . <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing and approval of <br />an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />REVISING THE CITY'S ELECTRIC UTILITY RATE SCHEDULES TO INCREASE THE <br />KILOWATT HOUR ENERGY CHARGE FOR ALL CUSTOMERS; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br />
