He also stated the remaining funding shortfall of $359,126.26 will need to be met by either SMCISD or Hays County. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration Item 19, removed from the consent agenda, adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, URGING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE TO OPPOSE STATE LEGISLATION THAT WOULD DETRIMENTALLY AFFECT TEXAS CITIES; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Thomaides moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Taylor seconded the motion. Mr. O'Leary stated the City is a member of the Texas Municipal League. He stated the Council directed Staff to prepare a Resolution to TML to consider forwarding to State legislation. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. Mayor Narvaiz introduced a public hearing on FY2005-2006 Budget. Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing. Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing and approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME OF SMITH AVENUE, FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH MOORE STREET TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH RANCH ROAD 12, TO OSCAR SMITH STREET; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing. Mr. Taylor moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading, and Mr. Guerrero seconded the motion, which passed unanimously (Mr. Thomaides was not present in the Council Chambers during this vote) .
