55. <br />Regular Meeting <br />September 20, 2005 <br />Page 8 <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration Item 26, removed from the <br />consent agenda, adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as <br />follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE SAN MARCOS HISPANIC <br />CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE PROVISION OF TOURISM PROMOTIONAL SERVICES <br />DURING THE CITY'S 2005-2006 FISCAL YEAR; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />TO EXECUTE THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Taylor seconded <br />the motion. Mr. Mark Taylor stated the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of <br />Commerce is requesting this item be tabled until the next Regular Meeting <br />to be held on October 4, 2005. He stated the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber <br />of Commerce needs to adjust the budget. Mr. Mihalkanin moved to table this <br />item until the next Regular Meeting scheduled for October 4, 2005, and Mr. <br />Taylor seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to <br />Planning and Zoning Commission, to complete a vacancy. Mr. Diaz moved to <br />appoint Bob Wilson, Mr. Mihalkanin moved to appoint Rebecca Bell-Metereau <br />and Mr. Thomaides moved to appoint Sherwood Bishop. On roll call the <br />following vote was recorded: <br />Wilson: Diaz, Guerrero, Narvaiz and Taylor. <br />Bell-Metereau: Mihalkanin. <br />Bishop: Thomaides and Bose. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing regarding an <br />annexation ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />ANNEXING TO THE CITY AN AREA CONSISTING OF 232.86 ARCES, MORE OR LESS, <br />LOCATED IN THE 1500-3100 BLOCKS OF HIGHWAY 123 (BALCONES BUSINESS PARK <br />TRACT); APPROVING A SERVICE PLAN FOR THIS AREA; AND INCLUDING <br />PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak. No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing and approval of <br />an ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows:
