(a) All buildings classified as Group B, Group S-2, or Group F-2 having a fire area exceeding 20,000 sq. ft. Exception: If there is a conflict between this section and other sections of this code, the most restrictive requirement shall apply. (b) Any building constructed after April 1, 2002 that exceeds 20,000 sq. ft. or any attached construction, alteration, or addition to an existing structure of any group that causes the structure to exceed 20,000 sq. ft. For purposes of tills section, an automatic fire sprinkler system is to be installed in the non-conforming or existing structure in addition to the new construction area. Section 903.2.7, exception 1, is amended to read as follows: 1. Where guest rooms are not more than two stories above the lowest level of the exit discharge, each guest room has at least one door leading directly to the exterior, and the fire area is less than 12.000 sq. ft. Section 903.2.8 is amended to read as follows: 903.2.8. Group R-2. An automatic fire sprinkler system shall be provided throughout all buildings with a Group R-2 fire area more than two stories in height, including basements, or having more than 16 dwelling units, or having a fire area that exceeds 12,000 sq. ft. Section 903.2.9 is amended to read as follows: 903.2.9. Group R-4. An automatic fire sprinkler system shall be provided throughout all buildings with a Group R-4 fire area with more than eight occupants or a fire area that exceeds 12,000 sq. ft. Section 2411.4 is amended to read as follows: 241104. Operations such as the warming of foods, cooking demonstrations, and similar operations that use solid flammables, butane, or other similar devices which do not pose an ignition hazard may be approved. Section 3301.1.3, exception 4, is deleted. Chapter 45 is amended as follows: Any reference to NFPA 13-96, 13D-96, or 13R-96 is amended to NFPA 13-94, 13D- 94, and 13R-94.
